The Bard of Bengal

Rabindranath Tagore was the first non-European to win a Nobel Prize for Literature. He died in August 1941 and was regarded as one of India's greatest poets.

Known as the "Bard of Bengal", Rabindranath Tagore was the first non-European to win a Nobel Prize for Literature.
