Vano Baby
DJ Edu meets Vano Baby, a controversial artist from Benin who's rethinking his bad boy image.
Vano Baby is the bad boy of Benin. He’s forged a very successful career from creating shock and outrage in his relatively conservative country. But as he tells This Is Africa, he’s toned down his lyrics quite a bit recently because he is ambitious and wants his music to be played ‘everywhere’. He reveals that it’s important to him to be seen as an artist with a clever way with words. He has also thought about being a role model to the next generation, and gives short shrift to those who believe a three-minute song can corrupt their children.
