Listener Wants More Balance in Trending Programme
Did the BBC Trending's report on far-right and Antifa demonstrators have enough balance? Plus, Kenya election coverage concerns from a listener in Nairobi.
Listener Lydia from Nairobi gets the chance to ask her local BBC Newsdesk Editor, Wanyama Chebusiri about the coverage of Kenya’s recent elections. The country has taken to the polls for the second time in three months and, in this time of political unrest, Lydia has her concerns about how events are being reported.
BBC Trending recently covered the violent clashes between far-right demonstrators and a group known as Antifa - antifascists – on the streets of America. Reporters Mike Wendling and Anisa Subedar visited the flashpoints of Berkeley, California and Portland, Oregon, to speak to protesters on both sides of the fierce confrontations, but since hearing the episode, John Sayer listening in Hong Kong, has been in touch to complain about imbalance in the report. Mike Wendling addresses John’s criticism.
Also, Ben Bland from the Newsroom is taking Rajan Datar on a tour of the BBC to uncover a mysterious piece of history which many listeners have been asking about.
