Iran offers US deal to reopen Strait of Hormuz

Iran is extending a new offer to the United States to reopen the Strait of Hormuz to navigation within a week -- linked to an end to all fighting in the region.

Iran's foreign minister says his country has offered the United States a plan to reopen the Strait of Hormuz to maritime navigation within seven days. The Wall Street Journal says President Trump has rejected the proposal, but this has not been confirmed.

Also in the programme: South Africa’s new ambassador to Washington tells the BBC there is no genocide against white Afrikaners like himself, despite what Donald Trump claims; young people in Morocco who once took to the streets in anti government protests react to their country's elections; and families of the Tumbler Bridge shooting in Canada sue OpenAI, over the firm's failure to report the mass shooter's behaviour on ChatGPT.

Presenter Krupa Padhy discusses these stories with panellists Maha El Dahan, Gulf Bureau Chief for Reuters, based in Dubai, and Aanu Adeoye, the acting global pharmaceuticals correspondent for the Financial Times based in London.
