Parents of sick children being exploited by scammers
A BBC investigation has exposed a scam that exploits children with cancer to raise money online for their treatment.
A BBC Eye investigation has found that some parents whose children have cancer have been scammed by a network of people working for associations registered in Israel and North America. Nine families across five continents say they have not received a penny of the $4m apparently raised in their children’s names. We hear from people affected and speak to our reporter who has been investigating.
The authorities in India say one of the gunmen who killed 15 people at a Jewish celebration on Bondi Beach was an Indian citizen. Officials say Sajid Akram was originally from Hyderabad, and left for Australia 27 years ago.
