Trump wants to pause migration from 'third-world countries'

US officials said they would suspend processing all immigration requests from Afghans.

US President Donald Trump has threatened to escalate his crackdown on immigration - pledging to "permanently pause migration" to the US from all "third world countries" as he hit out against his country's "refugee burden". Trump's social media post came after he announced that a US National Guard member had died after a shooting in Washington DC - for which an Afghan national has been blamed. We speak to our correspondent and Afghans in the US.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said his chief of staff, Andriy Yermak, resigned following an anti-corruption raid on his home. Yermak has been Zelensky's closest adviser throughout Russia's full-scale war, but has come under increasing pressure over a corruption scandal - even though he was not accused of any wrongdoing. We speak to Ukrainian MPs.

Iran says it's boycotting next week's World Cup finals draw in Washington after members of its delegation were denied visas. Our sports correspondent with BBC Persian explains.
