Venezuela slams Trump as fears mount over US military moves

The criticism comes after the US President after he warned Venezuela’s airspace was closed.

Venezuela has accused US President Donald Trump of issuing a “colonialist threat” after declaring the country’s airspace closed. We hear from a journalist in the capital Caracas.

Also in the programme: a Ukrainian delegation is set to meet US diplomats in Florida today to discuss Trump’s plan to end the conflict; and we’ll reflect on the legacy of Sir Tom Stoppard, the British playwright who has died aged 88, who is remembered worldwide for six decades of work exploring philosophical and political themes.

Joining presenter Julian Worricker to discuss these stories are journalist Oana Lungescu, former Nato spokesperson and now distinguished fellow at RUSI in Brussels, and Anthony Gardner, senior advisor at Brunswick Group in London and a former U.S. diplomat.
