Death toll in Indonesia floods passes 600

Humanitarian groups warn of a growing risk of indirect deaths — not from the floods themselves, but from hunger, untreated injuries, and a lack of medical care.

On Monday, President Prabowo Subianto - who was visiting some of the flood affected areas in North Sumatra in Indonesia - acknowledged some roads were still cut off, but added "we're doing everything we can to overcome difficulties".

Aid operations are also continuing across the Indian Ocean in Sri Lanka, which has also been devastated by flooding.
