Biden holds defiant rally in crucial swing state

It comes as the US president faces mounting pressure to step down

President Joe Biden has attempted to put his re-election campaign back on track with a defiant rally in the US state of Michigan. He came out on stage in Detroit to chants of "don't you quit!". Mr Biden told the crowd he was the only politician to have beaten Donald Trump and promised to do it again in November.

Also in the programme: a bill that would have decriminalised abortion assistance in Poland has been voted down; and we hear from the Grammy-award winner Laurie Anderson who has record an album about the aviator Amelia Earhart.

Joining presenter Julian Worricker to discuss these stories more are Zoe Gardner, an independent researcher and campaigner on migration policy in the UK and Yair Zivan, an author and foreign policy advisor to the leader of the opposition in Israel.
