Four countries are voting today for their members of the European parliament, on the third of four voting days across the European Union.

In Slovakia, opinion polls suggest last month's assassination attempt on the prime minister Robert Fico has propelled his populist party into the lead. In Italy, the prime minister Georgia Meloni's party is predicted to perform well, amid a wave of growing far-right support across Europe. The Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen has been assaulted in the capital Copenhagen. Her office said a man had hit Ms Frederiksen while she was on a square in the centre of the city.
