A powerful earthquake in Japan has killed dozens, caused homes to collapse and triggered tsunami warnings. Around 1,000 rescuers are searching for people who may still be trapped beneath the rubble. Our correspondent updates us on those rescue efforts.

Meanwhile, a Japan Airlines plane burst into flames after an apparent collision with a smaller coastguard aircraft on the runway at Tokyo's Haneda airport. All 379 passengers and crew were evacuated but five of the six crew on the coastguard plane died, police said. We hear from people now stranded at the airport.

Ethiopia has signed an agreement with the self-declared republic of Somaliland to use one of its ports. We hear what this means for Somaliland’s legitimacy as government of the region.
