Japan quake: Ten thousand soldiers to join rescue effort

More than 30 people are now known to have died in a powerful earthquake in Japan on New Year's Day - thousands of people living in coastal areas have spent the night in evacuation centres after being ordered to head to higher ground though tsunami alerts have since been downgraded.
