They found a fifty eight per cent decrease compared with the previous year. (Reports from Syria, Afghanistan, Yemen, Somalia and Pakistan all suggested a drop in violence. HARRIS BIDEN-David Willis
The race for the White House is heating up. Following on from yesterday's long-awaited announcement of his running mate - the US Democratic presidential candidate, Joe Biden, made his first appearance with his newly selected choice for Vice-President, his former rival for the nomination, Kamala Harris. But it was far from the typical campaign event - because of coronavirus related restrictions - the two spoke in a virtually empty high school gymnasium near Mr Biden's home in Wilmington, Delaware - barring close family members and journalists who were there to cover the event. The California Senator, Kamala Harris, is the first Black woman and first person of Indian descent to be on a vice Presidential ticket of a major party. And with 83 days to go, in her first campaign speech, she also criticised the way the country had been run by President Trump. So how did this much anticipated event go down? The prime minister, Jacinda Ardern, spoke at a news conference in Wellington:Screening women for breast cancer from their 40s rather than their 50s 'could save lives' without increasing the overtreatment of cancers that would have remained harmless, scientists from Queen Mary University of London say. The study was based on data from 160,000 women who were followed for an average of 23 years. It found that lowering the screening age could save one life per thousand women screened - but experts say more evidence is needed of the potential risks and benefits of screening younger women.Diana the musical will be streamed on Netflix next year, before it makes its official Broadway debut.
