Hong Kong democracy activists tried in 'secret'

Ten of 12 Hong Kong democracy activists arrested at sea as they tried to flee to Taiwan by boat have gone on trial in mainland China. None of the defendants had independent legal representation and foreign diplomats from countries including the US, Britain and Canada were denied access to the courtroom.

Also in the programme: A Chinese journalist has been jailed for her reporting from the city of Wuhan and the discovery of twelve new species in the Atlantic Ocean.
