European countries further restrict freedom of movement

Spain’s Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez said the emergency measures were “drastic and sadly they are going to have consequences”. In France cinemas, restaurants and most shops are now shut although local elections will still go ahead.

Also in the programme: Police begin restricting travel in the Philippines; and it is nine years to the day the uprising began against Syria’s President Bashar Al-Assad.
