Coronavirus: The lockdown of residents in Hubei province could end soon

Globally, the number of coronavirus cases has now passed 100,000, with 3,400 deaths

A senior Chinese government official, Ding Xiangyang, said the end to the weeks of lockdown affecting more than fifty million people in Hubei was not far off as for a second consecutive day no new cases outside the city of Wuhan have been registered. Meanwhile, in the US, concerns about the virus have become sharply political.

Also in the programme: we'll visit an art exhibition examining humanity's relationship with trees and we talk about a new book highlighting the challenges facing young women in Nigeria who have to work as maids and domestic servants and are thus denied access to education.

Joining Julian Worricker to discuss these and other issues are Chitra Nagarajan, a writer and human rights activist specialising in Nigeria and Robbie Barnett, specialist on Tibet and nationalities in China.
