British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, loses Brexit vote

Boris Johnson sends letter to EU for Brexit extension; violent protests in Chile

The British prime minister, Boris Johnson, has sent an unsigned letter to EU leaders asking for a further extension to Brexit, this after a vote in parliament went against him.

Also in the programme: An overnight curfew has been imposed in parts of Chile where violent protests are continuing despite the president's decision to suspend a planned increase in metro fares.

And, the Portuguese capital becomes more vibrant and more cosmopolitan, but some are being left behind.

Joining Julian Worricker to discuss these and other issues are Farrah Jarrah, writer, radio broadcaster, and medical doctor, and Felia Allum, Senior Lecturer in Politics and Italian at the University of Bath in the UK, and an expert on mafia and organised crime.
