Coronavirus: mass closures across the US
New York City shuts its bars, restaurants and schools to prevent spread.
The United States gears up its response to the pandemic with closures of schools and bars. In New York City, Mayor Bill de Blasio said he decided to act because "our city is facing an unprecedented threat, and we must respond with a wartime mentality".
