Further protests planned in Hong Kong over proposed extradition law

Hong Kong's chief executive Carrie Lam has said she will not withdraw the proposed law which would allow individuals to be sent to face trial in mainland China - one day after one of the territory's largest-ever demonstrations brought Hong Kong to a standstill. Critics fear the new legislation will allow the Chinese government to target political opponents inside Hong Kong. Ms Lam said it showed how freedoms were protected under the rule of law.
