Amazon rainforest is burning
Record number of fires are caused by deforestation.
The burning of the Amazon rain-forest has dramatically worsened in the last couple of years. In Brazil, environmental activists are quite clear - it's down to President Jair Bolsonaro's expressed determination to put apparent development before the environment. French President Macron has called for this to be discussed at the upcoming G7 conference.
We also look into the economic situation in Zimbabwe. Two years ago, President Robert Mugabe, the country’s only ruler, was forced to step down after 37 years. His deputy, Emmerson Mnangagwa, took the reins. There was a feeling of hope - but what followed was triple-figure inflation, electricity cuts, water rationing and prices that are spiralling so high that the UN says nearly a third of the population is facing a food crisis
And - we find out if there is such a thing as American artisan cheese?
