India citizenship act protests

Thousands held across India for defying a ban on protests

Indian police have detained thousands who defied a ban on protests against a controversial new citizenship law that offers citizenship to non-Muslim illegal immigrants from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan. We hear from protesters and our BBC teams across India.

Also, President Donald Trump has been impeached and faces a trial in the US Senate. We have live reaction from Washington.

And, temperatures in Australia have hit a record high for the second day running. We hear from a reporter who wore firefighter gear as fires burned all around in south-west of Sydney.
