Algeria election: Thousands protest in Algiers
Thousands of Algerians are protesting against presidential election in Algiers.
It's polling day in Algeria but angry protesters are on the streets in the capital and other cities. They say all the five presidential candidates are closely linked with ex-president Bouteflika, who was forced to resign in April. We'll get an update from our online regional writer.
We’ll also explain the controversy around the Citizenship Bill in India which offers amnesty to non-Muslim immigrants from three countries. We hear from our language service colleagues.
And there’s been a big social media response to the word of the year, “they” by the US dictionary Merriam-Webster. “They” is used as a singular personal pronoun for non-binary people. We hear from people who explain the importance of being able to use the word in the new context.
