Hong Kong protests: police open fire on protesters
A protester is injured when he was shot at close range by a police officer
Anti-government protests in Hong Kong have become increasingly violent. A protester was injured on Monday when he was shot at close range by a police officer. He is the third person shot by police since the protests began 24 weeks ago. We hear from protesters about their demands, and, we hear from our BBC reporters covering the story.
Also, Australia has declared a state of emergency over the bushfires in the states of New South Wales and Queensland. We hear from a resident who fears she will lose her home to the fires.
And we hear a report on the death of a former British Army officer who co-founded the White Helmets in Syria is reported. They were set up as a civil defence group and they help civilians caught up in attacks in opposition-held areas.
