Hurricane Dorian: 'Monster' storm hits the Bahamas

It is the most powerful storm to hit the Bahamas since records began

The leader of the Bahamas says Hurricane Dorian appears to have caused "unprecedented" devastation. It is the most powerful storm to hit the islands since records began and has torn off roofs and caused severe flooding. We hear from people there.

Also, emergency services are trying to rescue dozens of passengers onboard a boat which is on fire near Santa Cruz Island, California. We speak to a journalist there.

And police in South Africa say they have arrested 41 people after incidents of "looting and torching of buildings and vehicles". We get the latest from our correspondent.
