UK hosts press freedom conference

Nuala McGovern is live at the global media freedom conference in London.

Nuala is spending the day with the hundreds of government officials and journalists at the conference. She’s talking about the dangers and difficulties of getting trusted information out around the world; the impact of fake news and the vilification of the media in some quarters. This is against the backdrop of the last year being described as the deadliest on record for journalists. We’ll hear from people who work in a range of countries, including: Syria, Myanmar, Venezuela and Cameroon.

Also, we’ll consider the case in France of Vincent Lambert. He was left quadriplegic in 2008 after a road accident. His case around the right-to-die has split both his family and the country. His family said this morning that he died in hospital, nine days after being taken off life support.

And we'll discuss the issue of anxiety in Asian cultures, as well as showbiz; after the K-Pop singer Mina pulled out of her group’s world tour, due to mental health concerns.
