Hurricane Dorian batters Bahamas

The storm is the strongest hurricane in modern times to hit the area, and is causing devastating winds and very heavy rainfall.The US National Hurricane Center says it is “extremely dangerous”. We’ll hear from the Bahamas, where Dorian has just made landfall, and ask why this particular storm is so powerful.

Also in the programme: we’ll hear from the International Committee of the Red Cross about the airstrikes in Yemen that it believes have killed more than 100 people at a detention centre; and the Australian student pilot who was forced to seize control after his instructor collapsed.
