Algeria’s Bouteflika resigns
People have been celebrating the decision
After weeks of protests against his rule, President Abdelaziz Bouteflika of Algeria says he has resigned with immediate effect.
The BBC reports from Lashkar Gah, the provincial capital of Helmand, a region in Afghanistan that is predominantly under the control of the Taliban.
Separatists groups in Cameroon’s Anglophone region have agreed to come together, to start a process to negotiate a ceasefire with the government.
