Historic Deep Freeze in the US

At least eight people have died in the US Midwest in the worst cold snap in decades.

The deep freeze gripping much of the US has been blamed on a polar vortex. We'll explain what a polar vortex actually is and also speak to people caught up in the extreme cold.

We also pick up on the conversation from yesterday about the morals of dating while caring for an ill spouse. We spoke to women who were carers about B Smith's husband. He has been criticised for having a girlfriend while caring for her. Today we are getting men who are carers to talk about their experiences.

In South Africa, #Please-Call-Me-Movement is trending today. "Please call me" service allows cellular customers to send free text messages requesting a call back. Nkosana Makate demands compensation from telecommunications giant Vodacom claiming that he had originally come up with the idea while working as a junior accountant in the company.
