A landmark trial of prominent Catalan separatists has begun in the Spanish capital Madrid; Republicans and Democrats in Washington have reached an agreement in principle on border security that could avoid a second US government shutdown; 40 years since the one-child policy in China was enforced, how has it influenced the generations that followed in their own attitudes to having children?
