
Australia to re-open Christmas Island detention centre
Local leader says Christmas Island "not the place" to give medical treatment to migrants
A political row has blown up in Australia over the decision by the prime minister, Scott Morrison, to re-open a controversial migrant detention centre on Christmas Island. The local government leader of Christmas Island, Gordon Thomson, says they have no facilities to provide anything but the most basic medical care.
