
Venezuela: Opposition Leader Declares Himself President
Opposition Leader Juan Guaidó declares himself president of Venezuela during protests.
Tens of thousands of Venezuelans are taking to the streets in protest against President Nicolás Maduro. Speaking in Caracas, opposition leader Juan Guaidó declared himself acting leader of the country, and has received backing from US president Donald Trump and the Organisation of American States. Mr Guaidó has promised to lead a transition government and hold new elections.
