Salvadoran Óscar Romero Canonized By Pope Francis

The former archbishop of San Salvador has been made a saint 38 years after his death.

Pope Francis has conferred sainthood on the murdered archbishop of San Salvador, Óscar Romero, at a ceremony in the Vatican attended by tens of thousands of pilgrims. Archbishop Romero was an outspoken advocate of peace and championed the struggles of poor.
