Mark Zuckerberg has apologised to a US senate committee

Facebook's founder, Mark Zuckerberg, has apologised to a US senate committee for allowing other firms to misuse his platform's personal data for political ends. Mr Zuckerberg said he was personally accountable for any failure by Facebook to live up to its responsibilities.

A Burmese government minister is due to visit camps in Bangladesh that are home to vast numbers of Rohingya refugees who've fled from his country. Win Myat Aye, Myanmar's social welfare minister, will travel with Bangladesh's refugee commissioner on the rare visit. Over seven-hundred-thousand Rohingya Muslims live there in basic conditions after fleeing a Burmese military offensive.

President Omar al-Bashir of Sudan has ordered the immediate release of all political prisoners. According to state TV, the decision was taken to "promote peace and harmony". Several political parties had been calling for detainees to be freed so that they could take part in talks about how to solve some of the country's problems.
