Newsday is coming live from the Port of Mombasa this morning, the busiest harbour in East Africa, and one on which neighbouring landlocked countries rely. To give you an idea of it's regional importance, some weeks 3 out of 4 containers than arrive in Mombasa are bound for destinations beyond Kenya.

The main trading partners of the US have reacted angrily after President Donald Trump announced plans to impose tariffs on steel and aluminium imports. Canada and the EU said they would bring forward their own countermeasures to the steep new tariffs.

We hear from Nigeria with a very personal insight into what happened two weeks ago, in the north-eastern town of Dapchi - the scene of another mass kidnapping being blamed on Boko Haram.
