He was asked to join the panel by the Myanmar government
The veteran US diplomat Bill Richardson has resigned from an international advisory panel on the conflict in Myanmar's Rakhine State, describing it as a whitewash. He was asked to join the panel by the Myanmar government but said de facto leader Aung San Suu Kyi would not listen to his suggestions, and that the panel risked being only a cheerleader for existing government policy.
