Despite all the talk of Donald Trump and Xi Jinping getting on famously , they still have major disagreements on some very big issues, such as international trade. Their different visions are likely to be laid out today when they take centre stage at the summit of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation forum, which has just opened in Vietnam.
French President Emmanuel Macron has said he will stress on the importance of stability in Lebanon as he began an unscheduled visit to Saudi Arabia. This comes after Lebanese PM Saad Hariri resigned on Saturday while in Riyadh, saying he feared for his life. This prompted suspicions that Mr Hariri was pressured by the Saudis to quit.
It seems hard to believe, but in a capitol littered with some staggering monuments to the greatest conflicts of the past century, Washington still hasn't got a national memorial to mark the First World War. Now, nearly 100 years since the end of that bloody conflict, that is all about to change.
