Nine thousand fire fighters battle the state's worst wildfires since 1933. At least thirty six people have been killed and almost nine hundred square kilometres have been burned. Also, President Trump has threatened to end participation in an international nuclear deal with Iran, and a new airport opens on one of the world's most isolated island communities.
