Catalans declare independence

BBC OS gives a vibrant account of the day’s events with explanation and reaction from those involved.

The Catalan regional parliament has voted to declare independence from Spain, while the Spanish parliament has approved direct rule over the region. We'll hear reaction from people there and ask what happens next.

We'll also speak to our correspondent Tomi Oladipo about the Kenyan elections - only 34% of registered voters turned out to vote in the presidential re-run.

And today marks the 70th year of Kashmir's accession to India. It was on this day in 1947 that the Indian Army landed at Srinagar Airport following the accession of the state. We speak to young people on both sides of the border to hear their view on the ongoing conflict.
