
Spain Moves to Suspend Catalonia's Autonomy
The Spanish government says ministers will meet to discuss taking control of the region
The head of the Catalan regional government, Carles Puigdemont, ignored Madrid's ultimatum to rescind the region's bid for independence. In response, the Spanish government will hold a special Cabinet session when it will trigger the process to activate Article 155 of Spain's Constitution, allowing Madrid to impose direct rule.
