Spanish riot police tried to shut polling stations and clashed with voters during a referendum on Catalonian independence. The Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy said Catalans had been fooled into taking part in an illegal vote. Also in the programme: two women were killed by a suspected Islamist militant in an attack in the French city of Marseille.
