Russia has been ordered to close its San Francisco consulate

Russia has been ordered to close its San Francisco consulate and two trade missions in response to "unwarranted" Russian action, the US has said. The consulate, and annexes in New York and Washington, must close by Saturday. The US state department's move follows Moscow's reduction of US diplomatic staff in Russia last month.

The world's oldest continually operating monastery, St. Catherine’s, was founded in Egypt's Sinai desert in the 6th Centuary and has a vast library of ancient texts. Some of them haven't been seen by human eyes since the Dark Ages. Now a new project to reveal the messages that were scrubbed away thousands of years ago is underway.

On Friday, lawmakers in California will decide whether to push forward with a new law that would mean all school days would have to start no earlier than 8:30am. At present 82% of US middle and high schools begin the day between 07:30 and 08:00. So this would mean at least an extra half an hour in bed for the kids.
