Trump: Rapid withdrawal from Afghanistan 'unacceptable'

President Donald Trump has said a hasty US withdrawal from Afghanistan would leave a vacuum for terrorists to fill. He said his original instinct was to pull US forces out, but he now wanted to avoid the mistakes made in Iraq. He also warned Pakistan that the US would no longer tolerate the country offering "safe havens" to extremists.

Chile's constitutional court has voted to approve a bill to ease the country's total ban on abortions. It ruled that terminations are justified after rape, if the mother's life is at risk or if the foetus is not expected to survive the pregnancy. The law was approved after two years' debate in the Chilean Congress but had been challenged by conservatives.

The population of Africa is set to double by 2050 - to more than two and a half billion people. That brings opportunities, but also challenges - among them how to feed all those extra people. Kenya is at the forefront of trying to improve farming across Africa.
