China and Korea spat about the origins of Kimchi

South Korea has rebuffed China after false reports that it had won global certification for its production of kimchi, a hallowed dish for Koreans. Some Chinese media stated that it affected kimchi, prompting a clarification from South Korea. Dr Sojin Lim, co-director of the Institute of Korean Studies, at the University of Central Lancashire, explains the origins of kimchi and how the row erupted.
