The Arctic African
As a 16 year-old boy, Tété-Michel Kpomassie, ran away from his village in Togo to live in the Arctic. After an eight year journey, he arrived in Greenland in 1965 and finally fulfilled his dream of living with the indigenous people in icy wilderness. Years later, he wrote an award-winning account of his odyssey, An African in Greenland, which has been translated into eight languages.
