Polish Opposition to Stage Mass Rally

Thousands are expected to protest new laws on appointing judges

Protests are expected in Warsaw following the introduction of a new law giving Poland's government direct control over the body that nominates judges. Opposition figures say that this decision is a threat to the independence of the judiciary and could undermine democracy in Poland. We hear from one of the country's supreme court judges.

Also on the programme we hear about today's unauthorized referendum in Venezuela on President Maduro's attempts to change the constitution. And what is driving the current spate of acid attacks in the UK?
