How to Halt North Korea's Missile Programme?

Donald Trump tweeted before becoming President, "North Korea just stated that it's in the final stages of developing a nuclear weapon capable of reaching parts of the US. It won't happen!". Now, with Pyongyang claiming to have successfully tested its first intercontinental ballistic missile what options does President Trump have to deliver on his pledge.
