Former Panama Military Ruler Noriega Dies At 83

He who was forced from power by an American invasion in 1989

The former leader of Panama, General Manuel Noriega has died, weeks after a brain surgery. Noriega had been a key US ally but was forcibly removed when American troops invaded in 1989 and was later jailed in the US on drugs and laundering charges.

Scientists in the US say they've created a groundbreaking new version of a life-saving antibiotic. They say the discovery will boost their battle against infections that are resistant to antibiotics -- one of the biggest threats to global health.

Police in the US state of Florida say the golfer Tiger Woods has been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.
