Anti-apartheid Activist Ahmed Kathrada Remembered
He was sentenced to life imprisonment in 1964
The South African anti-apartheid activist, Ahmed Kathrada, has died at the age of eighty-seven. A close associate of Nelson Mandela, he was convicted at the Rivonia trial alongside the future president and spent time with him in prison, mainly on Robben Island.
