I Woke Up During Surgery
Canadian Donna Penner woke up during an operation. Also, William Lindesay, geographer obsessed with the Great Wall of China. And, Laila Haidari, caring for Kabul's drug addicts.
Donna Penner was admitted to hospital for surgery. It should have been a straightforward procedure but Donna woke up during the operation and was completely unable to alert the doctors.
William Lindesay describes himself as a "wall nut". He's been obsessed with the Great Wall of China since he was a child and he recently drove the full length of it.
Laila Haidari is called the "mother" of Kabul's drug addicts. Afghanistan produces 90% of the world's opium and has a huge heroin addiction problem. Laila has devoted her life to helping thousands of those addicts.
