For four decades now the US has formally observed a one-China policy, respecting Beijing's sensitivities. Mr Trump and his team have made clear things will be different under him -- not least by having a telephone conversation with the president of Taiwan, which China regards as a renegade province. But trade, currency matters and military activity in the South China Sea could all now be open to question too.
